There are 11 original bassoons of Prudent Thierriot (1730-1786) and 5 copies based on a Prudent Thierriot bassoons in the Hichwa-Rachor database. He flourished in Paris from 1765 until his death in 1786 and is the second in a line of Parisian bassoon makers which includes Bizey (with whom he apprenticed from 1747 to 1753), Prudent, Porthaux, and Winnen. Unlike most bassoon makers, Prudent used his first name to sign instruments.
