DeLoose Bassoons

There are 2 original DeLoose (Deloose) bassoons in the Hichwa-Rachor database. Little is known about this maker except that he worked in Gand (the French name for the city of Ghent), Belgium, at the beginning of the 19th century. His instruments are stamped “DELOOSE Á GAND.” Jansen reports that his name is Frans Antonius Deloose and he was born in 1769 in Hamme, Belgium (located between Ghent and Mechelen).

[Mahillon says that the de Bruijn bassoon was for a left-handed bassoonist, but this would not be true for this DeLoose bassoon since it does not have a swallowtail F key.]
