There are 2 original bassoons of Johann Heinrich Eichentopf (1678-1769) and 7 copies based on Eichentopf bassoons in the Hichwa-Rachor database. He flourished in Leipzig from c.1710 to 1749 and was a member of a group of important Leipzig woodwind instrument makers. Eichentopf’s original bassoons are used as the model for many modern period bassoon makers.
